1. Who we are

This website is operated by Socially United. Socially United is a for-profit company. Being paid for operations, software, production and subscriptions is what funds the strategy and board service we contribute without charge.

2. Using this site

You may use this site to read about what we do, search the Organization Directory, join the Talent Network, post a board vacancy, apply for support, nominate an organization or contact us.

You agree not to scrape the site at a rate that degrades it for others, not to attempt to reach the administration console or any part of the service you have not been given access to, and not to submit anything unlawful, misleading or that you do not have the right to submit.

We may change, suspend or withdraw any part of the site. We will not do that to the Directory or the Talent Network without notice on this site, because people rely on them.

3. The Organization Directory

The Directory is free to search and always will be. Most entries are public record: they are compiled from publicly available sources, principally Wikidata, which publishes under the CC0 public domain dedication. Those entries are labelled Public record and they have not been reviewed by us.

An entry marked Vetted means a person at Socially United reviewed how that organization is run. An entry marked Client or Partner means we have worked with them. No entry is an endorsement, a recommendation, or a statement that an organization is suitable for any particular purpose. Do your own checks before you give anyone money.

We do not guarantee that any entry is accurate, current or complete. Information about organizations changes constantly and we cannot verify all of it. If an entry about your organization is wrong, tell us and we will correct or remove it.

Listing is free. We do not charge to be included, we do not charge to be marked Vetted, and no payment will ever move an organization up the results.

4. The Talent Network

If you join the register you are offering to be considered for work, board service or other contributions. You are not entering an employment relationship with Socially United, and nothing here is an offer of employment or a promise of any placement.

You decide what you take on. We introduce, you accept or decline, and nothing is assigned to you without your agreement.

Your contact details are never shown to organizations. Introductions are made by us. If you want to be removed from the register, say so and we will remove you.

Board service arranged through the Network is pro bono. You are not paying for a seat and we are not selling one. Any duties you take on as a board member are owed to that organization under its own governing documents and the law that applies to it, not to us.

5. Board vacancies

Posting a board vacancy is free and there is no fee if a placement results. We do not guarantee that we will find anyone, and we do not guarantee the suitability, honesty or performance of anyone we introduce.

Appointing a board member is your decision and your responsibility. Run your own references, checks and any screening your jurisdiction requires.

6. Applications for support

Submitting an application creates no obligation on us to provide funding, expertise, pricing or anything else, and no obligation on you.

We assess applications against operating discipline and delivered impact. We may decline without giving a reason, and we may take as long as we need. Any support that follows will be set out in a separate written agreement, and only that agreement binds us.

7. Your content

You keep ownership of what you submit. By submitting it you give us permission to store it, read it, and use it for the purpose you submitted it for, including assessing an application, qualifying a profile or making an introduction.

For Directory nominations only, you agree we may publish the organization name, location, sector, summary and website. Do not submit confidential information through any form on this site.

8. Our content

The text, design, code and images on this site belong to Socially United or are used with permission, except third-party marks. Client logos are the property of those organizations and appear to identify work we have done, not to suggest they endorse us.

You may quote or link to this site. Do not copy it wholesale or present it as your own.

9. Other sites

The Directory links to thousands of external websites. We do not control them and we are not responsible for their content, their security or their conduct. A link is not an endorsement.

10. What we do not promise

The site is provided as it is. We do not promise it will be uninterrupted, error free, or that the information on it is accurate in every particular.

To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, lost profit, lost opportunity or loss of data arising from your use of this site or from anything in the Directory. Nothing here limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.

11. Changes

We may update these terms. The date at the top shows when they last changed. If a change materially affects people already using the Directory or the Talent Network, we will say so on the site.

12. Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of the jurisdiction in which Socially United is established, and the courts of that jurisdiction have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute. The specific jurisdiction and the full registered company details are being confirmed and will be stated here.
